In Hindu traditions, the ‘Panch Tirth’ (Five Pilgrimages) within Haridwar are, “Gangadwar” (Har ki Pauri), Kushawart Ghat, Kankhal, Bilwa Tirtha (Mansa Devi Temple) and Neel Parvat (Chandi Devi Temple). Mansa Devi Mandir, Chandi devi Mandir and Maya devi mandir being the three siddh Peeth located in Haridwar fulfilling wishes of the worshippers.

Har Ki Paudi

This is a very famous temple in Haridwar located on the ghats of river Ganga. This is considered as the major spiritual landmark of the holy city. Har Ki Paudi literally means Steps of god , as it is believed that Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu visited here in vedic times. This sacred Ghat was constructed by King Vikramaditya (1st century BC) in memory of his brother Bharthari. The most sacred ghat within Har Ki Pauri is Brahmakund.It is said that Lord Bhrahma himself organised a yagna here and hence the name “Brahmakund” given to the place. A footprint on a stone wall there is said to belong to Lord Vishnu. The morning and evening prayer (Aarti) offered to Goddess Ganga at Har Ki Pauri is an enchanting experience for any visitor. Thousands of people from all around the world do make a point to attend this prayer on their visit to Haridwar

Mansa Devi Temple

Located at the top of the Bilwa Parwat, this temple in Haridwar is dedicated to Mansa Devi, the Goddess of Shakti (power). Mansa Devi temple is a siddh peeth(fulfilling desires of the worshippers).Devotees who pray to Mansa Devi for fulfilling their wishes tie threads to the branches of a siddh tree located in the temple. Mansa Devi is considered as a must visit for the pilgrims going to Haridwar. To reach the temple one has to trek or ride on rope-way service.

Chandi Devi Temple

It is a temple dedicated to goddess Chandi,a form of Lord Durga. The temple is situated at the top of the Neel parvat on the eastern summit of the Shivalik Hills.the main idol of the temple is said to be installed in the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya.Visitors can reach the temple using ropeway or trek 45 minutes up the steep stairway. It is a place of worship where desires get fulfilled

Daksha Mahadev Temple

The ancient temple of Daksh mahadev is situated in the south Kankhal. According to Hindu scriptures, Kind Daksha Prajapati, father of Sati( Lord Shiva’s first wife) performed a yagna, to which he deliberately did not invite Shiva, where he later arrived uninvited to which King Daksha further insulted him. Sati felt infuriated and self-immolated herself in the yagna kund. King Daksha was later killed by the demon Virabhadra, born out of Shiva’s anger.Later the king was bought to life ang given a goat’s head. This temple is a tribute to this legend and dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is visited by thousands of visitors in the month of August (Saawan) and all the year round.

Sati Kund

Sati Kund is another mythological heritage worth a visit in Khankhal. It is the Kund where sati immolated herself.
